Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking anymore!

As of Monday Monday, September 21, 2009 Google have revealed that they no longer take into account the keywords tag within websites, but they have confirmed they still use the meta description tag as a factor for indexing websites on their search engines.

What does this mean to you

This means that the keywords within your website are no longer taken into consideration by Google.

What you should do

As Google are placing importance on the meta description it is vital that you check that your meta description contains all relevant information about your companies products and services.

Should you remove the meta keywords

The answer to this question is simply no. A high percentage of search engines use the keywords as their main indexing criteria, so the keyword tag should not be overlooked.

Who does this effect

This will effect most companies who have an active business website that is being used as a marketing tool.
